Ever wondered what it’s like to step on stage and entertain an audience of over 5,000 people? Or to warm up a crowd for A list DJ’s such as Example himself? Or, to keep the party going until the early hours of the morning? Meet Apatchy’s new ambassador Toby Bacon – a young DJ with his mind set on becoming Britain’s most sought after DJ…
To find out more about the Eat, Sleep, Rave, Repeat lifestyle, we caught up with Toby as he prepares for his busiest summer season yet…
More for social reasons actually - I’ve always been interested in music but first got into DJing as I knew it would get me straight into the best parties at school. Aged 15 I quickly learnt the meaning behind the lyrics ‘God is a DJ’ after being invited to people’s parties that I hardly knew!
The best part about being a DJ is witnessing the result of your craft having a direct and positive effect on other people. For me, there is no better feeling than to see a crowd of people having an absolute blast as a result of doing something that I myself love and enjoy.
I'd say my ability to read the crowd and a passion to DJ
My biggest inspiration is Adam Wiles (Calvin Harris) because of the way his sound has progressed over the years and the way he still comes up with fresh ideas when DJing.
I'm going back to Ibiza as well as playing at my residency in Cambridge. I'm also playing various Young Farmers parties and Uni gigs.
Ibiza is such a special place with something going on around every corner. It is the main hub for dance music and DJs from all around the world. The best way to describe Ibiza is to experience it as words don't come close!
A typical day in Ibiza would be to get up around noon for a leisurely brunch before spending the day by the pool or at the beach. I then head back to the apartment to sort out tunes for the evening before making my way to the club. Normally my set lasts 2-3 hours and I then get to watch the bigger DJ’s play before getting home as the sun comes up! This year I’m really looking forward to performing in a few afternoon gigs too which means I can go out afterwards to my favourite club Amnesia!
On set at Harper Adams University Ball
